The common language of music that we all share has the power to reach out and touch our hearts and souls. It cuts across cultural, geographical and spiritual divides. Like a painter mixing colors on a palette it has allowed me to bring instruments and musicians together that have their roots in different musical traditions, resulting in a stimulating fusion that inspires the senses and natural energies through the meditative space created.
For a few tracks the framework with piano was laid down before Shyan added his enchanting bansuri. This allowed the late Geoffrey Gordon’s improvisation on Raag Yaman to be beautifully embellished. The live sessions of Shyan with Hans during the latter part of the Thai winter in 2012 testify of the unbridled joy both have for their instruments and of the respect they developed for each other’s musical expressions.
